Course Location

Riversdown House, located in the glorious Hampshire countryside, south-west of London, is providing the best conditions for studying English via method of intensive residential one-to-one tuition. Riversdown House - a 14th century "Great Hall" with a long history.

Since 1971, Riversdown House has provided Intensive Language Training, helped thousands of businessmen and women improve their linguistic abilities.

Riversdown House is open all year round. Course participants from world’s leading corporations and government institutions come from all over the world It is an ideal opportunity to expand business network, forming long-lasting links with professionals from other cultures and industries.

The most acceptable airports for meeting participants – are Heathrow and Gatwick. Guests shall be met at the airport and seen off at the end of the course. Participants shall arrive in Sunday after lunch, to have a cocktail party, specially arranged for newcomers before dinner. Departure is usually planned for Sunday after breakfast.

Participants shall be accommodated in convenient rooms. Picturesque natural surrounding of the estate is specially intended for walking, jogging, bike trips, riding, and for fishing.

Now there is an opportunity after the hard day's lessons to relax in the new built sauna.

Programme and Schedule of the training

Competent professional and experienced teachers shall arrange the training so, taking into account all specific and individual requirements and professional needs of the participant. The participant’s current level of language, individual purposes of training, time frameworks, sphere of professional activity – all this factors shall define the training program.

Our specialists have developed their own approach of language study, which integrates the traditional communicative method and new present-day procedures and ways (role game, case-study, on-line assessment, analysis of situations from companies’ everyday activity).

All students at Riversdown House have their own individual study room, fully equipped with video and audio recording equipment.

Programme and Schedule of the training

Programme includes:

• Mastering of lexical, grammar and phonetic constructions
• Mastering of professional terms
• Elements of cross-cultural training
• Mastering of communication skills in the Russian language on themes: telephone communication, business and personal correspondence, negotiations, conclusion of contracts

The course is divided into weekly modules, (2 - 6 modules within the course are recommended). Lessons start at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. (from Monday to Friday). Besides there are good opportunities for language practice in social context.

The cultural programme includes excursions (to Oxford, London, Winchester), walking. This programme is a harmonious addition to the studying process, making it not only useful, but also interesting and pleasant, it enables to have a good practice and to learn more about cultural life of England.

High teaching standards provided by the fact that all our instructors meet the following minimal criteria:

• University degree
• International teachers’ certificates
• 5 years’ teaching experience
• Experience of working with multinational and government organizations
• Experience of interaction with different cultures

and offer personal, structured solutions of communicative tasks of the students.

The fees:

£ 2200 per participant, per week, from January to June & September to December of 2004

£ 2400 per participant, per week, from July to August of 2004

The price of the course includes:

• One-to-one tuition from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

In the Riversdown House there are golf and tennis clubs, where the participants may spend their leisure time. The golf site with 9-hole, is comfortable as for a new came player, so for an experienced one. If you want to take several lessons in golf, - the experienced instructor is available there.

Two tennis courts with the firm cover and one grass-covered court are enabling you to play tennis the year round.
